Studies of injury patterns of motorcyclists, motor- scooter riders and pillion passengers admitted to hospital or killed in Brisbane, before and after the introduction of legislation to make the wearing of crash helmets compulsory, indicate that greater usage of helmets has dramatically reduced both the incidence and the severity of head injury in these groups.
