Abstract

Summary Two maxillary central incisors with complicatedcrown fractures in a 9-year-old boy were treated andrestored. The teeth had open apices, pulpotomieswere performed, and a calcium hydroxide prepara-tion was applied to the pulp stumps. After 14 months, the apices were closed and the periapical region wasintact. The crown fragments were used to restore thefractured crowns using the acid-etch resin technique. The esthetic appearance achieved by this method wasvery good. The coronal part of the teeth maintainedtheir translucency which does not happen when theteeth are restored with composite material. Thismethod of restoration is recommended for those in-stances in which the crown fragments are presentand are large enough for manipulation. Continuedmonitoring of the patient is essential.
