Abstract

In a previous article of the proceedings of the Japan Academy, Vol. 27 (1951) No. 6, Takahara, one of the present authors, reported under the title "Acatalasemia and an Oral Progressive Gangrene" the investigation of nine cases of human beings lacking catalase in their blood. Most of these had peculiar, characteristic dental progressive gangrene during childhood. By careful quantitative estimation it was recorded that these cases showed no catalase in their blood. The methods applied for this proof were I:noue's method (permanganate method) and Stern's method (iodid method).
