Catalan's Equation

Catalan's Equation is a Diophantine equation of the form \( x^a - y^b = 1 \), where \( x, y, a, b \) are integers greater than 1, distinguished by its conjecture—now proven—that the only solution in the natural numbers is \( 3^2 - 2^3 = 1 \).
